Role of the Site Council
The main tasks of the Sycamore School Site Council are as follows:
o Create and maintain a comprehensive school plan that addresses budget, strategies to meet academic standards, and the overall Sycamore School vision.
o Budget and allocate School Improvement Plan funds in a manner that supports the school objectives.
o Periodically examine schoolwork, math, and writing samples in accordance with academic goals.
o Monitor and maintain appropriate goals as established in the school plan.

Site Council acts in an advisory role and in conjunction with the Shark Fund and Sycamore Valley PTA. Site Council supports school improvement programs such as: Early intervention specialists for reading and math, Perceptual Motor for kindergarten, Orton-Gillingham Phonemic Awareness Program, Rainbow Room, Staff Development, Teacher Coaching, Data Analysis and Assessment, and the GATE program.

Site Council Information
Site Council elections are held each spring. Each year two parent volunteer positions (2 year terms) will be open for general election. Please watch your regular school communications for election planning or feel free to contact Krista Keller or Mary Briemle.
To insure the council works closely with both the Shark Fund and the PTA, board members from each attend council meetings. The council meets monthly in the staff lounge and while only members may vote, all are welcome to attend.
